Home to Carmarthen Athletic 08-09-2018

First home game of the season with the new clubhouse fully operational hosting near neighbours Carmarthen Athletic together with Youth on the second pitch entertaining  Lampeter.

A good lively start with both sides pressing for the first opening, Saints however were guilty of committing too many penalties in their eagerness to achieve the opening break and Carmarthen converted one after ten minutes to take the lead.

James Davies narrowly missed an opportunity to level the scores five minutes later but halfway through the first half, within five minutes, the visitors snatched two tries, when Saints appeared to be enjoying the better of the game, one from a breakaway from the opposition half and another following a period of good open rugby from both sides with Saints punished for a mistake which led to the second to put the visitors into a comfortable 17 point lead.

The home side continued to press with the backs showing some spells of good interplay but rarely able to make any progress against a resolute Carmarthen defence who gave nothing away and withstood everything Saints could throw at them.

The second half continued in much the same vein with Saints unable to penetrate the solid defence despite a number of close calls and with the visitors always looking dangerous with possession gained from turnovers, too many penalties conceded and unfortunate errors it was no surprise when Carmarthen crossed for the third time to stretch their lead to the final margin of 22 points to nil.
