Away to Mumbles 13/04/2019

A lively start from the visitors taking the game to the hosts with some good penetrating runs proved to be a false dawn and the home team quickly gained the initiative at the breakdowns with their lively backs scoring almost at will to record three tries in ten minutes to lead by 21 points to nil with only half an hour gone.

Despite Saints best efforts to turn the game round, producing a try from Jonathan Gostling after half an hour following an excellent accurate cross field kick from outside half Shane Morgan, they continued to leak tries with their defence unable to contain the lightning counter attacks from a well drilled back division and at half time 28 points to 5 was threatening to turn into a cricket score!

The second half continued in the same vein with two more tries in the opening three minutes coming off the back of mistakes by the visitors when on the front foot trying to force the game and with the score standing at 38 points to 5 an embarrassing score line looked to be the likely outcome of the afternoon.

To the relief of the visiting supporters the tide turned with the visitors forward division leading the initiative and three tries from second row Rhodri Evans, flanker Ryan Jeremias and Dafydd Walters at prop, all converted by captain Adam Phillips restored a respectable score line of 38 to 26 and a bonus point at last!

A final try from the home side with time running out killed off any chance of any further bonuses, producing the emphatic final score of 45 to 26, but at least some pride restored!
