Away to Cardigan 30/01/2016

The return match at Cardigan saw the home side start the better, looking to gain revenge for defeat earlier in the season at the hands of the visitors at Parc Griffith Jones, Despite the difficult playing conditions, with heavy ground underfoot and a tricky blustery swirling wind, within five minutes they registered the first try with a successful conversion for outside half Iestyn Crompton to lead by seven points to nil.

With most of the first half's play in the Saints half, Cardigan recorded two further tries, one of which was again converted by Crompton, to reach the break nineteen points to the good and in control.

Despite Cardigan's early superiority in the first half  thanks to their excellent tactical kicking, from Crompton in particular, with good support play from their lively backs, in the second half St Clears were able to secure better possession and as a result more territory and following desperate defence from the home side, producing an ever increasing number of penalties, a penalty try was awarded to the visitors converted by James Davies, bringing Saints back into the game.

Cardigan gained some respite with fifteen minutes remaining, by recording a fourth bonus point try, duly converted once again by Crompton to restore their nineteen point lead.

Saints however were far from beaten and for the second week runnng finished much stronger than opposing sides well above them in the table. With the forwards well on top in the last periood of the game, intense pressure finally secured a well deserved try from number 8 Daffyd Walters to reward their efforts and produce a final scoreline of 26 to 12.
