After a wild night and a great deal of rain recently it was good to see the results of all the work on the ground producing an excellent surface for the game.

A prompt start with a stiff wind still evident in the visitors favour provided early momentum and within two minutes the first try was registered by number 13 Craig Thomas, pictured receiving congratulations from one of the visiting coaches.

Ten minutes later Saints found themselves ten points down without having really got going, thanks to a further score from Milford's number 14 Kurn Cunningham.

Gradually the home side established some stability and a successtul penalty from full back Chris Rodenhurst reduced the arrears.

This simply served to spur MIlford back onto the front foot however and two further tries were recorded in quick succession just before the break to leave the score at 22 points to three.

The half time break provided little respite for the home side and mistakes at the break down with only token defensive resistance handed three more tries to the visitors in the early stages of the second half. All three were converted and at 43 points to 3 a real hammering was on the cards.

To their credit Saints did rally and a number of substitutions stiffened the resolve so that there were no further scores but the overall performance and a comprehensive defeat was a very disappointing outcome for the day.
