Home to Pembroke Dock Quins 03/09/2016

A downpour in the hours leading up to the game had no affect on the new surface and the game was played on a perfect pitch although the remains of the storm force wind and the persistent drizzle led to tricky playing conditions. The opening stages were very tight and the only score chances came from missed penalties for each side, the home side hitting the post however.

An opportunist try for Saints scrum half, Owain Davies broke the deadlock after twenty minutes and this time Geraint Jones converted a more difficult kick to produce the half time score of 7 points to nil.

The visitors opened the second half strongly and their forwards enjoyed more success both in set pieces and break downs. A successful penalty for the home side for Geraint Jones and almost immediately a try for flanker Tom Rees with Geraint gaining the extras, extended the home side's lead, somewhat against the run of play, to a slightly flattering 17 points. Pembroke did not give up the fight however and their continued forward pressure eventually produced a push over try for prop Jack Davies with half an hour remaining and almost immediately the home side were lucky to escape a further reverse, when a similar attempt was disallowed.

Within minutes however good work from Saints backs with some slick interplay, finished off by a score for winger Jonathan Gosling (pictured), killed the game off  at 22 points to 5 with some twenty minutes remaining. Pembroke kept going to the end however and although there were a couple of chances for the bonus point, the home side were happy to settle for the score at the final whistle.
