Early pressure from the outset saw St Clears establish a dominant position leading to two tries in the first ten minutes from Andy Davies, converted by Ceri Jones and Mat Lewis producing a twelve point lead with the promise of plenty more to follow!

Careless handling by Saints leading to a loose ball and a clearing kick produced a break away try for the home side's fly half against the run of play and the visitors iniital superiority slipped away.

The tactic of kicking whenever possible with rapid support from Llangwm's quick backs turned the pattern of play completely and Saints defence could not cope. An excellent converted try ten minutes before the break levelled the scores at twelve apiece at half time.

Two successful penalties early in the second half put the home side in front and although Daffyd Walters touched down for the visitors it was immediately countered by a converted try for Llangwm to put the home side eight points ahead with twenty minutes remaining.

Although the visitors rallied and exerted enormous pressure on the home side's defence, camped on Llangwm's score line for the remainder of the game, only one further try resulted from Luke Hannah, converted by Mat Lewis.

Despite several very close calls, St Clears could not break down the home side's resolute defence and proceedings were drawn to a close with a one point advantage to an obviously delighted and perhaps somewhat surprised home side!
